Computing
At The Lancaster School we believe the ability to use technology effectively is an essential skill in life. Our aim is to develop learners who are confident and effective users of a variety of technologies. We recognise that technology has the ability to motivate and enthuse children, to enable them to work individually, co-operatively and collaboratively and to develop perseverance and flexibility and creativity. Computing has deep links with mathematics, science, and design and technology. The core of computing is computer science, in which children are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas.
We use Purple Mash to teach computing.
